Benefits of Industrial Water Tanks for Nursing Home Communities

Posted on: 23 February 2022

There are many issues you may face if you are a nursing home community manager or developer. One of the issues may be dealing with the right amount of resources when emergencies occur. This can be electrical resources, heating oil, gas or even water. Many nursing home developers and managers focus on water as the main resource to ensure it is always on hand. One way to do this is with the use of industrial water tanks. Here are a few of the benefits of these tanks and what to know about each benefit.

Ongoing Fresh Water

The key benefit to any kind of water tank for nursing home communities is having fresh water on demand. When there is extreme weather such as flooding, the water source you already have can become contaminated. This is especially true if your main source of water for the community is groundwater. When you have backup water tanks, you can ensure that you have enough water for your residents and staff to last until the contaminated water can be filtered by the local water treatment plant and forwarded to your traditional plumbing system.

Tornadoes

Depending on your location, tornadoes may be a significant issue for your area. Tornadoes can damage water towers, buildings and above-ground water tanks. For this reason, you should consider underground water tanks as part of your upgrade. This will ensure that your backup freshwater supply is protected and avoids many of the damages above ground tanks can endure. By keeping the water tanks underground, you are also ensuring you can switch to the water supply if a tornado or other natural disaster takes out your mainline tanks. The underground tanks can be installed to connect directly to your existing plumbing system, so making the switch to the backup tanks is easier.

Contaminants

In extreme cases and situations, a town or city water supply can be attacked. This is usually done by someone introducing something into the water stream, such as a poison or chemical. When this happens, the water department will generally shut down the water supply immediately to reduce the chances of death or harm. This means you would normally be without water until the department turns the water system back on or gives the okay that the water is safe. By having backup water tanks, you can ensure you will have ongoing water to your nursing home community during this downtime and that the water is safe.

When you are ready, contact your contractor of choice. They can offer you options from tanks that are ready for installation. They can also discuss the options available, types of installation and maintenance needed for the option you choose. Keep these tips in mind when looking to install water tanks.

My Manufacturing Blog

The world of manufacturing is fascinating. I was first introduced to this world by my uncle who works at a local manufacturing plant. While I was still at school, my uncle invited me to attend work with him as part of my work experience placement. I was away on my work experience for two weeks and I can honestly say that I loved every minute of it. Since that time, I had been having long chats with my uncle so I could learn all I needed to know about the industrial and manufacturing sector. I decided to start this blog so I could share some of my new-found knowledge.
