Early Warning Signs That Your Refrigerator Needs Repair

Posted on: 16 October 2019

A fridge can operate both day and night efficiently. It can even last for an extended period without significant damages or faults. However, if you do not maintain it well, it can start showing signs which imply the inner parts are in trouble. For your reference, here are the early warning signs that your refrigerator is faulty and that it needs immediate repair.

1. Food expiring while still in the fridge

Does your food turn sour when you put it in your fridge? Does it change its original colour or become a little stinkier before its expiry date? If yes, your refrigerator is struggling to maintain the optimal refrigeration temperature. The motor might be working overtime, thus making the condenser coils hot. It could also be possible that the condenser coils are dusty. Many issues could cause food decay, and that is why you should regularly inspect your fridge.

2. Frequent condensation

A fridge that keeps condensing requires regular repair or servicing. Condensation occurs when water accumulates inside for a more extended period. To prevent the condensation, regularly check if there is any water collecting under the refrigerator. The excess water could be as a result of deteriorating rubber sealing on the door or mold growth. Always clean your fridge with a clean cloth as condensation might cost you dearly.

3. A sudden increase in your electricity bill

Has your monthly energy bill risen all of the sudden? If your consumption habits are still the same, but the bill keeps on increasing, your refrigerator could be the problem. Usually, the fridge is only responsible for 8% of the total household energy consumption. A sudden spike in the bill is clear evidence that the refrigerator is consuming more than the standard electricity. To prevent condensation, conduct regular refrigerator vessel inspections.

4. Changes in sound

A well-functioning refrigerator should produce a gentle sound. If your appliance starts buzzing more loudly, the motor could be struggling to function normally. Try to unplug the power source and plug it back. And if the sound does not stop, call a professional technician to inspect and pinpoint the problem.

If you experience any of the above signs, you would probably get tempted to fix them by yourself. However, it is important to note that a refrigerator is one of the appliances which require expert knowledge to inspect and repair. To prevent further damages, regularly carry out refrigerator vessel inspections to confirm that every part of the fridge is working well.

My Manufacturing Blog

The world of manufacturing is fascinating. I was first introduced to this world by my uncle who works at a local manufacturing plant. While I was still at school, my uncle invited me to attend work with him as part of my work experience placement. I was away on my work experience for two weeks and I can honestly say that I loved every minute of it. Since that time, I had been having long chats with my uncle so I could learn all I needed to know about the industrial and manufacturing sector. I decided to start this blog so I could share some of my new-found knowledge.
